Grey And Yellow

Hi Loves,

In my recent blog posts, I shared my experience of making the "Little Miss Daisy" swimsuit ๐Ÿฉฑ. Feeling creative, I decided to make another swimsuit, but this time I wasn't sure what to make ๐Ÿค”. I spent some time thinking about the design and finally settled on a simple and cute one ๐Ÿ˜. However, when I started working on it, it didn't turn out the way I had imagined ๐Ÿ˜•. After a few attempts, I managed to create a swimsuit that I was happy with ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Let's discuss the colour combination. Doesn't the grey and yellow look amazing? Take a look at the mesh details on the side. Although the top may seem simple, I think the mesh on the side makes up for it. Do you agree?

Ooh Lala!!

 Hi  Loves,

๐Ÿค— I hope everything is going well for you. I wanted to share that I made a really cute and simple top recently...  This top took less than 30 minutes to make...  But!! Baby!! These fringes took all day to cut and assemble.  They also took a lot of yarn.  But can I say it was all worth it?  My only regret is not taking a picture before adding those fringes.  Guess I was too excited.

This top was one of Shyler Crochets' designs.  I am attaching the video so you can make your own if you think this top is a must-have in your closet.  I've also added a little snippet showing just how cute this top really is.

Had to make another to show the top before the fringes (sample in size small)

Made size medium

Bandeau

 Hi Loves

Welcome to another blog, where I show you things I've made... ๐ŸŽ‰ When you ask? Who knows. ๐Ÿ˜… I amaze myself at how many things I make in a week, a month and even a year. ๐Ÿคฉ Sadly there are things I've made and haven't photographed for the mere fact that I tend to work mostly at night. ๐Ÿ˜” I also don't have good equipment to facilitate my nightly excursions lol.. ๐Ÿ“ท There are also the reasons of needing to deliver the items quickly and time did not permit the taking of photos due to poor lighting. ๐Ÿ•ฐ️ I do promise to get my act together and ensure I document all my exploits. ๐Ÿคž

With that being said.  Here is a top I made sometime in 2023.  I got the inspiration from Shyler Crochets.  It was of an asymmetrical bandeau top.  I watched the video (see below).

Decided I would use a yarn I had in my stash.  It was just one skein and not sure if I'd said this before, but I think I am somewhat delusional when it comes to how much yarn I need to do a project.  I never seem to gauge it right...  I always think "It's a small project, so this small skein/ball will do".  Silly, silly me.  This project was no different, so here I thought my one skein of this discontinued yarn would be enough.

I liked the colour and the little sparkle and shine, so of course I made it work.  This just meant I had to improvise, and as you may have noticed, I don't mind doing so.

Are you ready for some magic? ๐ŸŽฉ Please lift the curtains and voila! ๐ŸŽ‰ Behold the stunning transformation! It's like a whole new world out there. Isn't it exciting? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

See that beautiful shadow, lol?

La Viva

 Hi Loves

One day while browsing through YouTube, feeling rather bored,  I found this cute summer top from one of if not my favourite crochet designers, Shyler Crochets.

I watched the full video, gathered my supplies and before I knew it two tops were completed.  I made one longer than the other.  I also made it my own by piping the tops with an accent colour and adding a little bow.  Let me know what you guys think.

Granny Funky Shorts..

 Hi Loves,

Although the weather is always warm in Jamaica, summer is the perfect time for sun, sand, and sea. Today, I am excited to share a cute pair of shorts I made using LaDenser Crochet's design. Recently, I felt down and needed a way to cheer myself up. I decided to browse YouTube and came across a new video from LaDenser Crochets. After watching the video, I was inspired to make a pair of shorts using her design and a new yarn that I purchased from Temu.com.

I enjoyed working with this design because it was easy to modify according to my preferences. The pattern was simple to follow, and though I initially wanted to make a pair of plain white shorts, I decided to mix things up a bit. Overall, I think the end result turned out quite well.  Don't you all think so?

The issue is finding a cute top that would pair well with my shorts, and I would be super chic... Can't wait to wear these.

The Summer Is Hot

 Hi Loves,

How's it going? I hope you're having a fantastic day! Now get ready to put on your sunglasses because things are about to get bright and sunny up in here! So, let's talk about bikinis. With summer in full swing, it's time to show off that beach body and rock your favourite swimwear. That's why I came up with a three-piece beachwear set that will have you turning heads on the shore. It all started with a mesh skirt that I crocheted, and from there, the bikini set was born. I mean, who wouldn't want a matching crochet bikini to go with their skirt? I know I would!

After visiting me at home my sister - the owner of Di Buzz 876 Boutique, fell in love and decided to take a few pictures and add them to her store listing. I'm thrilled that it's getting attention!

Custom

Hi Loves.

I was commissioned to reproduce a 3 piece swimsuit from a picture.  I was a bit nervous as this was the first time I would be making something for this customer.  She sent me the picture and I studied it and did a little more research to ensure I was confident about taking on this job.

You may be wondering what's the big deal, right?  Well being a perfectionist and a believer that my work speaks volumes and is a representation of myself.  I tend to worry a lot about doing a great job.  With my confidence boosted, I began to ask the pertinent questions and request the measurements required to ensure I would get a good fit.

My customer was not good at taking measurements so she decided it was best to drop by and allow me to take what I needed.  With measurements done and colours decided on.

I started with the easiest of the three pieces the Bralette. I then went to the bikini (if I am being honest this is the piece I was most worried about).  Then finally the skirt and I am all done.

Can you tell she was satisfied with her order?

What she sent vs what I did... Did I do a good job?

Foundation Single Crochet

Hi Loves

We will be learning about the Foundation Single Crochet (FSC) stitch today.  This stitch has you completing the chain and single crochet rows in one go (2 rows in one).  Now, isn't that fun?

This would be a great way to start a project that requires a lot of beginning chains.  Imagine not having to chain 200 and then single crochet (sc) across before you can start your project.  This stitch will have you completing these 2 steps in one go.  Not only would this make it easier to start working on that fun piece you can't wait to see finish but would lessen your beginning time.  Now that's a win-win for me.

How is it done?

To do this particular stitch we begin by chaining 2, then insert your hook in the first chain from the hook, yarn over pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over then pull through both loops.  To make another FSC, insert your hook into the V that was formed at the back of the first stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over pull through the first loop, yarn over then pull through both loops.  You would continue for the number of stitches you need for your project.

Let us get some visuals and for that, we would like to thank Evelyn And Peter Crochet for those visuals..

Extended Single Crochet (ESC)

Hi Loves,

Today we will learn about extended single crochet  (ESC).  This is done by making a few modifications to the way in which you do the single crochet.  It can be done in rows or rounds.  It is not as dense as the single crochet as it gives a little drape and is good for clothing, bags, etc.

To do the ESC, you begin as you would the single crochet.  Insert your hook in the stitch, without yarning over,  with two loops on your hook, you yarn over and pull through two of the three loops on your hook.  Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops and there you have it, the extended single crochet is completed.

Let us get some visuals for clarity.  We would like to thank MJ off the hook for our tutorial today.

Herringbone Stitch (crochet)

 Hi loves,

Today, I want to introduce you to the beautiful and unique crochet Herringbone stitch, which has a knitted version as well. Let's learn and create something beautiful together!

I recalled the name of the stitch I used a few years ago when making a doll top. As I was writing about different stitches for my blog, ๐Ÿค” I thought of it. However, I couldn't quite remember how to do it, so I decided to refresh my memory on YouTube. ๐Ÿค” I clicked on the first video that appeared.

Armed with yarn and needle in hand, started practicing, but something wasn't right... This was not the way I remembered it.  YouTube here I come again...

That's when I realized there was the half double crochet herringbone stitch and the double crochet herringbone stitch. Phew!! got to say I was a bit worried I'd bitten off more than I could chew.  I was worried, I'd only be able to talk about the basic easy everyday stitches.

Here we go, for the half double crochet (hdc)  herringbone we start as we would the hdc, by yarning over, inserting the hook, and pulling up a loop. We now have 3 loops on our hook... Here is where the fun begins. Pull the last loop through the second loop only... Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook... There you have it. The hdc herringbone stitch is completed.  For the tutorial this week I would like to thank Tiffany Hansen.

Double crochet (dc) herringbone stitch.

To do the dc herringbone stitch, yarn over as you would when doing the dc, insert your hook and pull up a loop, you now have three loops on your hook. Pull the last loop through the second loop on the hook. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook and there you have it. You have just done the dc herringbone stitch.
For this tutorial I would like to thank Hopeful Honey
