It's A Fashion Extravaganza

Hi, my fashionistas out there,

Someone asked me a while back if I could draw... I was like "not to save my life"... Well, I'm no artist (not with a pen or pencil, paintbrush, you get the gist).  He replied, then how can you create those πŸ‘‰ referring to my dolls.

I told him, I just envision the look I want and just do it.  It sometimes takes me weeks to perfect a look while other times a few minutes.

The easiest part of making my dolls is the blank canvas, the framework, and the body. Everything else requires me to be comfortable, focused, and void of distraction.

I decided to make a few dolls back in June yes June.  Within a few days, I finish 6 bodies, and within 2 weeks a dozen bodies were completed... Then comes the hard part... What look should I give them?πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Think, think, think, think........ Okay, check yarn stash, check available colours... Days pass, weeks pass, then before I know it, it's August... Oh man, what are you doing Melissa? At this pace, you'll definitely not get anywhere. πŸ™„  Or so you think....

I finally got my inspiration when I got a package with some embroidery thread... These pretty bright colours were all I need.

Aren't they just so pretty?

One week or so and my fashion show was ready to begin.....

Bedspread to shrug

Hi, ya'll,

You must be wondering about my heading, right? Bedspread to a shrugπŸ€”, how?

This is how, I found the Virus pattern/stitch and fell in love, deciding to not make a shawl or a simple blanket.  No, no, no, that's too basic, this girl wanted to make a bedspread out of crochet thread.  Now that's sick, right?

I set off to make my bedspread, on day one, day two, days three, four, five, six, etc, progress was sssllllooooowwww.....

Sorry I didn't take the starting, was too anxious.

Progress, I think

Colour change.

Just look at that beauty.

Change, again

Ooohhh... It's getting bigger.

Sorry for the background

So, after what seems to be an eternity I put it aside.  It was after months of laying by the wayside that the idea came to make a piece of clothing.

First, I'll make a matching square and turn that into a coverall beachwear..... no, a top.... no... Oh man, I don't know, so again it's back to the wayside for this piece.

Then came June 30th, my grand Papi's set up..... And then it hit me... Make a shrug... And so I did...

But, as usual, anxiety gets the better of me, well no, it was a lack of time, this time😁😁.  Bet you couldn't tell it wasn't finished... I join it to form the shrug but didn't have the time to finish the edge.

I wore it and felt so darn posh, I was beaming with pride modeling MY creation.

I add the finishing touch a few days later and wow, wow, and more wow......

Photo shoot time 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Rug bug

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is doing absolutely great. I have another amazing piece to showcase.  Here I was checking some pictures of things I made some time ago and found this pic.

A rug I made from scrap yarn

Posted it on IG and she fell in love with it.  She commented but I didn't see it  😞.  A few days later she wanted to know if I was gonna reply..... I was lost, reply to what πŸ€”.
Then I saw it... My bad... Sorry I didn't see it.

I sent my DM and it was on like donkey kong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Don't worry, it's only the beginning.

I'm getting there.

Is that 34"?

I rested thinking about what finish to give it... The rug should be black with a hint of blue but why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary.  So, after a few days of procrastinating the masterpiece was completed.

I decided I was going to block my work for the very first time😁.

Just look at it.... Look at it... OMG just look at it...

I hope she loves it as much as I do. I really amaze myself with this.  I love the edging, picots just made it pop.  My finish piece measures approximately 48".
