Peek-a-boo

 Hi Loves, 

I recently stumbled upon a YouTube tutorial by Wonder Yarn on how to make a "Super Easy Fashionable Summer" crop top.  I decided to try it, but it took me a few attempts to get it right, even though the pattern instructions were clear.  I had to redo the first prototype as it turned out to be too big for my liking, even though my daughter thought it was fine.  I made some alterations, adjusted the number of rows needed to complete the first section and started the project again. 

I am pleased with the outcome as it turned out perfectly.  What do you all think?

Little Granny Pants

 Hi Loves, 

Once your creative engine starts revving, it takes a while to turn them off.  After completing my Ladenser Crochet's Granny Stitch Shorts, I wanted to try pants in this same pattern. I knew I would need quite a bit of yarn and it would also take a lot more time.  Therefore I settled on making a pair for my then 3-year-old.  This took me about 3 days to complete.  

I was so excited and every time she saw me working on them, she would ask who they were for, I told her it was for her.  Her response would always be, "It's too big, Mommy".  I assured her it was still ongoing.  Once I finished making it, I let her try them on and she loved them, but mentioned "They are too big ti me".  lol

P.S. I hope to follow up with some lovely shots of her wearing them on my other platforms.

It's another one

 Hi Loves, 

I recently came across August Craft and Crochet on YouTube and I must say, I'm hooked! Her collection of bag designs is so diverse and creative that I couldn't resist trying out more than one. This second bag pattern has a perfect beachy vibe, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. It's always refreshing to discover new patterns and designs that inspire your creativity and bring a sense of joy and fulfilment to your life.

I enjoy patterns that allow me to express my personality. As a creative, I rarely follow a pattern exactly as it's written. My mind is always racing with ideas on how to modify the pattern to create something unique and different.  This time was no exception, the pattern was done in one solid colour but I had to mix it up. (P.S. It's not because I ran out of yarn, lol😆). 

This bag has enough room for all your beach accessories or even for an overnight trip.  The possibilities are endless.  I hope you like it enough to make one for yourself.

Let's Go To The Beach

 Hi Loves, 

It's great to share my love for creating and always having a work-in-progress on hand. Having a hobby that brings me joy and fulfilment is fantastic, and earning from it is even greater.  I'm always looking for new projects to undertake, as learning is never-ending.

I found a lovely bag pattern from August Craft & Crochet that caught my eye. It's always exciting to discover a new project that inspires me to create something beautiful and unique. The strap instructions were a bit confusing at first, but it's great that the video tutorial was helpful and that the teacher was amazing. 

There's nothing quite like having a clear and helpful tutorial to guide you through the process of creating something new.  Clear and detailed instructions can make all the difference in creating a successful project. It's great that I was able to overcome the initial confusion and complete the bag. It turned out beautifully and I am proud of my work.

I took a gorgeous bag and made it even better by adding my own unique touch - some stunning crochet flower appliques. Trust me, it's a game-changer!

The Mullo Hat

 Hi Loves, 

👌After creating "The Mullo" my friend requested a matching beanie. 😊 I was overjoyed as this would give me yet another chance to use the long/spike single crochet stitch. 🧶 I loved how this simple yet exquisite stitch made my project stand out. 👌.  

This stitch can be used for just about anything your heart desires. Stitching is like having a magical wand that can turn any plain fabric into a masterpiece. 🧙‍♀️ With a little bit of creativity and imagination, you can create a design that will make heads turn. 💁‍♀️ The spikes/long stitches are like your paintbrushes, and the fabric is your canvas. 🎨 So, let your inner artist come out to play, and see the amazing results that you can achieve! 🤩

The Mullo

Hi Loves, 

I may have been absent 🙇‍♀️ but was as busy as a bee 🐝 with family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, home 🏠 and work 💼 life. During my hiatus, I was asked to make a crossbody bag 👜 for a friend 🤝. He explained what he wanted and his colour preferences🎨. I decided on my course of action 💡 and went with a ready-made strap 🔗 that could be adjusted as he was much taller 📏 than my short statue 🚶‍♀️.

This bag had double compartment (not shown in the pics).  A snap closure and as previously stated a ready-made adjustable strap.

I'm happy to share that he was absolutely thrilled with the color and design, so much so that he even asked for a matching beanie! How cool is that? 😊

Constellation Prize

Hi Loves, 

In the previous post, I shared how my daughter was disappointed because she did not receive the ruffle hat I made. Here's why her disappointment didn't last long.

I tried the Temu cotton blend yarn in yellow and black, and decided to experiment with other colours. So I bought some light pink, rose pink, and white. At first, my daughter wanted me to make her a top that I had made for her younger siblings, but she changed her mind after losing the hat. 

She even requested that I alternate between colours every few rounds. She can be quite picky for someone who is not paying for the work, don't you think?

I was delighted with the challenge and decided not to cut the yarn after every color change, in case the colour combination didn't work out. As it turned out, I loved the final result as the colours and placements were simply beautiful together.

She wore the hat to school and had a photoshoot with her friends. It was rare to get a picture of her in anything I made unless I took it myself.

Ruffle Hat

Hi loves

Have you seen those hats that are taking the internet by storm? They're all over TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and I just had to give them a try. It was a breeze to make the hat, but the final two rounds of ruffles took a bit of extra effort. In the end, though, it was totally worth it - both my daughter and I loved the finished product! 

There was just one tiny problem... the hat was so popular that it practically flew off my mannequin head with a buzz. My daughter was a little disappointed that she didn't get to keep it for herself, but hey, paying customers come first, right?

She wasn't disappointed for long, though. I'll show you why in the next post.

Saltwater Taffy Tee

Hi Loves, 

I discovered Temu, an online store sells yarn, while browsing TikTok one day. I was pleasantly surprised and decided to check out their app. After doing a search, I became very curious and decided to order a small amount of a cotton blend yarn. I waited for a little over a week for my package to arrive. Once it was delivered, I quickly opened it and was amazed by how soft and luxurious the yarn felt. I was excited to start making something, but I wasn't sure what to create. I started a few projects before finally settling on the Saltwater Taffy Tee designed by Rachel of Evelyn and Peter.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a hard time estimating the amount of yarn required for my projects. Unfortunately, this project was no exception - halfway through, I realized I needed more yarn and had to order it. As a result, I had to put the project on hold for about a week.

After waiting eagerly for my package to arrive, it finallyl's  did and I was able to dive back into my project. I spent countless hours working on it, perfecting every detail, and making sure that it was exactly how I wanted it to be. Finally, after two days of hard work, I was able to complete the project.

Butterfly Romper

 Hi Loves, 

This post is about a butterfly romper that I made. The idea came to me while I was creating the Shyler Crochet Butterfly dress. I thought it would be a great idea to turn the dress into a romper. However, I got sidetracked when my daughter asked me to use the same dress design and modify it to make her prom dress last year. 

To make the romper, I started the same way Shyler did with the top/dress and followed the steps until I reached the section where I needed to split it into leg holes. This is where I started improvising.  After a few tries, I think I got it right.

After spending countless hours on making a beautiful romper, it sat completed and unclaimed on my mannequin. I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed that my creation had nowhere to go and no one to wear it. However, when my birthday came around, I decided to take a chance and wear it myself. And let me tell you, it was such a confidence boost to wear something that I had designed and created myself. The romper was both sexy and comfortable, and knowing that I had made it with my own two hands made it even more special. It just goes to show that taking risks and trying something new can lead to some amazing results.
