Peek-a-boo Bikini

Hi Friends, 

Recently, my eldest daughter approached me with a request that was both intriguing and challenging.  Guys, you know I love a challenge. So, after I crafted a cosy hat for her friend using some beautiful Yarn Art yarn, she expressed her desire for a unique bikini set featuring the colour #268 of Yarn Art yarn. 

The yarn is a gradient going from the centre out, it goes from cream, brown, light blue, light grey to a dark grey.  Very beautiful, I may add, 💞

This time, however, she had some very specific ideas in mind. She asked me to construct the bralette by starting with the triangle shape from the top and working my way down, deviating from the conventional method of creating a U-shape by crocheting from one side to the other. 

To make it even more distinctive, she requested a playful peek-a-boo opening just below the bust line, adding a touch of whimsy to the design. I’m excited to embark on this creative project and bring her vision to life! 

Guys.... Guys.... I did great or what?   You know I ate!!!

I made a cover up too.

Yarn Art

 Hi loves, 

My eldest was into the buying of yarn, (why?  I do not know)... lol I'm just kidding she wanted to make a ruffle hat for her friend.  She bought Yarn Art YarnArt Flowers Yarn in the colours #268 and #269.  This yarn is 55% Cotton 45% Acrylic, 250gr, 1094yds Multicolor Cotton #1 Fine Sport weight.  An absolutely gorgeous yarn both in colour and feel... 

It was my first time working with this yarn, it was easy to work with and made me want to purchase some.  It would work well for making light and airy garments.

She started her hat and requested my assistance in completing the hat.  She chose color #269 for the hat.   See the video below.  The crown and base were made while holding only one strand but the ruffle was done holding 2 strands (inner and outer strands).  The finished hat was very cute, it epitomized practice makes perfect as this was the 3rd one I've done and the best one yet.  Do you agree?  Check out the blog posts Ruffle Hat and Constellation Prize for comparison.

Is It a Hat-Trick?

Hi Loves

I’ve been on a roll with my hat-making and couldn’t be more excited! I got my hands on some new yarn and it sparked my creativity. So, guess what? I decided to recreate my very first project of 2025! If you want to check it out, you can find it in my blog post from March 20th.  

This pattern has been super popular, and I even got a request for a black version! How awesome is that? I’m feeling really proud of my progress, and I can't wait to see what else 2025 has in store for me.

I want one too!!

Hi Loves,

After being commissioned to create a black, green, and gold hat in my previous post, I received another order to make one for his sister, who wanted a hat as well. Since she prefers a girly style, she requested a pink and purple version. While searching for yarn, I found a beautiful variegated yarn that had more purple than pink, and I hoped she would like it🤞.  To ensure she had some pink, I crocheted her initial with pink thread and sewed it onto the hat.

Her version was knitted and the pattern was a free flow creating as I go.  Hope I am not asked to replicate as I didn't jot any notes down 😅😆.

It seemed my prayer was answered, as she absolutely loved it (see the last three pictures). During my yarn hunt, I also came across a bedtime bell lovey that I made a few years ago in black, green, and gold. I offered it to her as a gift, and I think she loved that too! Can you tell?

Black, Green and Gold

Hi Loves,

I was commissioned to create a beanie, tam, or hat for my little cousin who lives outside the island. He requested a black, green, and gold hat to represent his father's country. I managed to find green and gold yarn, but I couldn’t find black yarn in the same size. Instead of buying new yarn, I decided to use what I had in my stash. I followed a pattern from Sirin's Crochet hat tutorials.

The hat features a green brim and a gold body. To incorporate the black and tie everything together, I crocheted his initials and sewn them onto the hat. Can you believe that wasn't deliberate?

Beanie

 Hi loves 

With winter upon us—though I’m in the tropics, so it doesn’t really affect me—I welcomed the new year by diving into some lovely yarn and a nice pattern. I spent some time scrolling through YouTube for inspiration. I watched Granny Gaia's tutorial for a crochet mock neck top and attempted it a few times, but I didn’t have enough of the yarn I originally wanted to use, and I wasn’t keen on any substitutes.

After that, I shifted my focus to Sirin's crochet tutorials and decided to make a hat. This was particularly exciting since I had just received some new yarn and was eager to try it out.

For the hat, I used the slip stitch technique from the Crochet Top video to create the brim and the Alpine Stitch for the main part. I loved how it turned out. What do you think?

Baby Doll

 Hi Loves, 

I want to share with you something I've been up to lately. As someone who loves creating new things, I always seek inspiration for my next project. I recently came across a pattern for a baby doll top/dress by Granny Gaia, and I just had to try it. I made one for my youngest daughter, then another for my second daughter, and my eldest daughter has even requested one (although I haven't made it yet, as she asked for a ruffled hat first). This top is very cute but does use quite a bit of yarn depending on the size.

I used one skein of fingering yarn to make my baby girl's, and my second one used more than one skein. As a side note, the larger the size, the more yarn you will need, so ensure you check your stash before starting.

Once you have gathered all the necessary supplies, you can begin creating your own top. I assure you that you will not regret it...

Peek-a-boo

 Hi Loves, 

I recently stumbled upon a YouTube tutorial by Wonder Yarn on how to make a "Super Easy Fashionable Summer" crop top.  I decided to try it, but it took me a few attempts to get it right, even though the pattern instructions were clear.  I had to redo the first prototype as it turned out to be too big for my liking, even though my daughter thought it was fine.  I made some alterations, adjusted the number of rows needed to complete the first section and started the project again. 

I am pleased with the outcome as it turned out perfectly.  What do you all think?

Little Granny Pants

 Hi Loves, 

Once your creative engine starts revving, it takes a while to turn them off.  After completing my Ladenser Crochet's Granny Stitch Shorts, I wanted to try pants in this same pattern. I knew I would need quite a bit of yarn and it would also take a lot more time.  Therefore I settled on making a pair for my then 3-year-old.  This took me about 3 days to complete.  

I was so excited and every time she saw me working on them, she would ask who they were for, I told her it was for her.  Her response would always be, "It's too big, Mommy".  I assured her it was still ongoing.  Once I finished making it, I let her try them on and she loved them, but mentioned "They are too big ti me".  lol

P.S. I hope to follow up with some lovely shots of her wearing them on my other platforms.

It's another one

 Hi Loves, 

I recently came across August Craft and Crochet on YouTube and I must say, I'm hooked! Her collection of bag designs is so diverse and creative that I couldn't resist trying out more than one. This second bag pattern has a perfect beachy vibe, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out. It's always refreshing to discover new patterns and designs that inspire your creativity and bring a sense of joy and fulfilment to your life.

I enjoy patterns that allow me to express my personality. As a creative, I rarely follow a pattern exactly as it's written. My mind is always racing with ideas on how to modify the pattern to create something unique and different.  This time was no exception, the pattern was done in one solid colour but I had to mix it up. (P.S. It's not because I ran out of yarn, lol😆). 

This bag has enough room for all your beach accessories or even for an overnight trip.  The possibilities are endless.  I hope you like it enough to make one for yourself.
